February is Black History Month in Canada and this year the theme is “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build”. For this theme we offer some titles that explore various aspects of the experience of being Black through politics, music, family, and more.
Did you know that the Langara Library has many popular feature films available to stream free from anywhere, anytime? For your viewing enjoyment, we offer several collections of feature films that you can access through your library account as a current student, staff or faculty member whether at home or on the road from any internet device.
To accompany the Feature Films list this month, we present a collection of e-books that are connected to those films. Whether the books became screen adaptations, were a loose inspiration, or offer a backstory on the facts of the films, these books are certain to enrich and deepen the experience of viewing the films from multiple perspectives.
To celebrate and acknowledge the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11th, we present a selection of titles that focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education. From gender equity to innovation and from IT to Chemistry, these e-books explore how STEM education can become more accessible and effective for women and girls of all backgrounds.
