Violence against women and girls remains a pervasive problem worldwide and many Canadian continue to face violence every day because of their gender, gender expression, gender identity, or perceived gender. This is a violation of the human right to live free from violence. The library is a rich source of information on this complex and difficult topic.
Picture books are more than child’s play! They are an essential tool used to explain difficult and complex aspects of life to young children in ways they can understand. This selection of books offers a sampling of techniques on how to effectively utilize picture books while teaching literacy and entertaining young children.
November 8th is Indigenous Veterans Day and November 11th is Remembrance Day. To honour and remember those who sacrificed their lives during wartime, we have selected some books about war from unique and personal perspectives.
