Reading Lists: Guide for Copyright Staff

Reviewing reading lists: Overview

Instructors have the option to Review & Publish or Publish when they publish reading lists. The Publish option is recommended on the Reading Lists: Instructor Guide, but an instructor may choose the Review & Publish option if they would like the Library (Copyright Office) to review their reading list as a whole and provide feedback.

Review & Publish sends a notification to the Langara Reading Lists mailbox (readinglists@langara.ca). Copyright Office staff respond to Review & Publish requests. At other institutions, such as Okanagan College, subject librarians review reading lists for instructors.

Note: Review & Publish requests are processed through Reading Lists (Talis Aspire), rather than Talis Aspire Digitized Content (TADC) (which is exclusively for digitizations).

Reviewing reading lists: Workflow

  1. Login to Reading Lists.
  2. Click the Reviews tab in the menu at the top of the screen.
view reviews feature in reading lists
  3. Select a reading list under Title. You will now see this menu:
    review reading list options
  4. Click the person icon to Assign user (optional). The Copyright Technician is usually the first reviewer.
  5. Click the check mark icon to start the review.
  6. Click the speech bubble icon to Add outcome for individual readings or all items in the list.
    • Options include: no action required, on order, will not be acquired, technical issue, copyright issue
  7. Click the pencil icon to Edit resource metadata (optional).
  8. Click the check mark again to Complete review. The instructor is notified by email when the review is complete.
