Reading Lists: Guide for Copyright Staff

Submitting aquisition requests on behalf of instructors

Copyright Office staff can submit acquisition requests on behalf of instructors to facilitate reading list production. This includes scan requests for works in the Langara Library collection, as well as requests for works that Langara Library does not own:

Works in the Langara Library collection
Email Borrower Services (circulation@langara.ca) from the Langara Reading Lists mailbox (readinglists@langara.ca) with the title of the work and the excerpt you require (e.g. chapter, page range).

Save the supplied digitization in the Talis - Digitized Files OneDrive folder. Create a new folder for the course/instructor (e.g. ENGL 1123 (Smith)) if one does not yet exist.

Works that Langara Library does not own (interlibrary loan)
Complete the interlibrary loan request form on behalf of the instructor. Include the course code and instructor name in the form's Additional information field (e.g."For Hannah Gustafson's APSC 1050 reading list"). Provide the Langara Reading Lists email address (readinglists@langara.ca) for follow-up.

Save the supplied digitization in the Talis - Digitized Files OneDrive folder. Create a new folder for the course/instructor (e.g. ENGL 1123 (Smith)) if one does not yet exist.

Note: If an aquisition request exceeds fair dealing guidelines (e.g. two chapters from a print book), contact the Books Librarian to see if Langara Library can purchase the work as an e-book. If not, proceed with manually clearing rights.
