Linking to library resources: e-books, videos, and journal articles

What is a persistent link?

A persistent link is a stable link to an individual e-book, video or article that doesn't change over time.

They are stable, but subject to change or withdrawal, e.g. if a book publisher withdraws from a license, that e-book may no longer be available. For this reason, it‟s a good idea to verify e-book, video or article links from time to time.

When created with Langara's proxy prefix, persistent links enable off-campus access. When users click your link from off campus, they will be prompted to provide their Langara email account and password before they can access the resource. On campus, users are taken directly to the resource.

Proxy prefix: https://login.ezproxy.langara.ca/login?url=

You can't always use the URL at the top of the browser window when creating a persistent link. Sometimes those URLs are tied to your search session and will not work later.
