Reading Lists: Instructor Guide

Reading lists are an improved way for instructors to create and manage course readings inside of Brightspace. 

Reading lists organize all of the resources (or "readings") for a course, whether it's books, e-books, journal articles, scanned documents, films, or websites. They can easily be used as a digital alternative to print coursepacks. 

Instructors can annotate readings and mark them as Required or Suggested, to guide student learning. Reading lists also allow instructors to communicate directly with Langara Library to request resources and ensure copyright compliance. 

Reading lists enhance the student learning experience. With reading lists, students can: 

• Add personal notes to readings
• Track their progress by marking readings as: Will read, Reading now, Have read, and Won’t read
• Access library resources via stable links and report broken links with the click of a button 
• Leverage accessibility features. Reading Lists are compatible with screen readers, screen magnifiers, and speech-recognition software.
