POLI 1119: Canadian Politics and Government (Phillips)

Searching the library catalogue for books on your topic

The catalogue (Books & Media on the Langara Library homepage) allows you to search for print books, e-books, journals, DVDs, and streaming videos in the library's collection. You can search by title, author, keyword, and more:

Note: You will not find individual journal articles through a catalogue search. To locate journal articles on your topic, visit the Finding Journal Articles section.

Research tip: Finding books about a specific person

To find books about a specific person (e.g. Kim Campbell):

  1. Select Subject search from the drop-down menu (the default is to search by keyword)
  2. Enter the author's name as follows: Last name, First name (e.g. Campbell, Kim)

Borrowing from other academic libraries: Reciprocal borrowing and interlibrary loan

Interested in a book that Langara Library doesn't own? Many college and university libraries in British Columbia have reciprocal borrowing agreements. This means that, as a Langara student, you can borrow books directly from any member library at no charge. Be sure to bring a current Langara photo ID card.

Langara Library can also order books from other libraries on your behalf through its interlibrary loan service. Complete the online order form, and your print book will arrive within 15 working days. Book chapters are emailed to you, usually within 3-5 working days.
