Copyright at Langara

Langara is committed to balancing its interests as a place of learning with those of content creators and publishers. This website provides information to help students, staff, and faculty manage their individual rights and responsibilities under Canadian copyright law.

Use of copyright-protected content on campus is governed by:

  • Canadian Copyright Act,
  • judicial precedent,
  • international treaties, and
  • license agreements between the College and content providers.

These form the foundation of Langara's copyright policies and directives.

The Copyright Office, based in Langara Library, offers resources, educational workshops, and services (including permissions and licensing) to members of the College community. For assistance or to arrange a customized copyright session for your department, please contact us.
