CINAHL: Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature

• Articles from 5,400 journals in nursing and allied health fields
• First place to search when your topic has a nursing focus

Sample search topic:

how humanism informs undergraduate nursing curriculum

• Search topic: how humanism informs undergraduate nursing curriculum 
• Search query: humanis* AND nurs* AND undergrad*
• Limiters: you want only articles from peer reviewed journals published within the last 5 years

What this looks like in CINAHL:

• Put the different concepts you are looking for in separate search boxes. The database defaults to joining them with AND, which will find articles that contain ALL of the terms.
• It can be helpful to truncate some search terms. For example, nurs* will search for nurse, nurses, nursing, etc.
• Include synonyms or similar terms in the same search box separated by OR. This will find articles that contain any of those terms
