- Brainstorm synonyms, words that have the same (or similar) meaning. You will often discover synonyms and related concepts as you're conducting your research.
- Example: Indigenous, Aboriginal, First Nations, Native
- Use OR to indicate synonyms while searching
- Example: lndigenous OR Aboriginal OR "First Nations" OR Native
- Use quotation marks to indicate when words are used together as a phrase
- Use the asterisk (* symbol) for words with variable endings
- Example: Canad* = Canada and Canadian
