Tutorial Overview

In an academic setting you are required to think critically about the kinds of sources you use for your research assignments. The following series of videos "Can I Use This? Evaluating Your Sources" introduces the 5Ws, an easy method for evaluating information. The 5Ws framework can be applied to information sources to help you determine whether or not sources are the right fit for your project.

At the end of the series you will be able to:

  • Identify different types of authority
  • Recognize that authoritative content comes in many forms
  • Assess the fit between your needs and resources
  • Understand the concept of the information timeline
