Knowing whose land you are on, considering the implications of this positionality, and striving to develop and deepen respectful relationships with local Indigenous communities is a lifelong process.
snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College is no exception to this process. In the past four years, snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College has become more intentional about its relationship with Musqueam First Nation, on whose unceded territories it is located.
If we think about snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College as having a lifespan of its own, being born in 1970 as a satellite campus of Vancouver Community College, gaining independent status as Langara College in 1994, and most recently receiving the name “snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓” from Musqueam in 2016, we as a community are in our youth in terms of developing an awareness of who we are and how to engage respectfully with our neighbours and relations.
The pages in this section provide background on the College's growing relationship with Musqueam First Nation.
