Key library resources

This guide covers some key library resources and services for Term 1 of the Registered Massage Therapy program.

List of RMTP textbooks in the Langara Library
These can be found in the Reserves area of the library. They can be used in the library or borrowed for a short time (varies by title from 3 hours to 3 days).

Anatomy and physiology resources:

Anatomy.tv This link opens in a new window
Unlimited simultaneous access to the 2020 version of Anatomy.TV and Human Anatomy & Physiology Resources, including 3D Real-time and Perceptual Adaptive Learning Modules (PALMs). Updated interface allows accessible seamless access via HTML5 in all modern browsers (eg. Chrome).
BioDigital Human This link opens in a new window
An interactive 3D software platform for visualizing anatomy, disease, and treatment, with over 600 health conditions. You must create an account with Langara's institution code in order to access content. Click on the following URL to begin the registration process: https://human.biodigital.com/login/create?code=LC8ER8BR and the code is: LC8ER8BR. Once you have registered, access BioDigital Human here: https://human.biodigital.com/login, Content can also be accessed on your phone via the Biodigital Human app which can be downloaded for IOS or Android.
The software can:
- Create content aligned with educational objectives using intuitive authoring tools
- Hide structures to isolate essential anatomy and apply paint and effects to emphasise or de-emphasise structures
- String together multiple views of the human body into an embeddable, 3D interactive slideshow
- Add labels, titles, and descriptions or edit existing ones
- Include questions or quizzing around models with multiple choice, anatomy selection, labelling, or instructions all in interactive 3D

Offers all of Dr. Joe Muscolino's streaming video content on manual and movement therapy, including over 2,000 video lessons and PDF e-books. New content is added every week.

Human skeleton models in the library:

Disarticulated human half skeleton model
Packaged into 14 bone sets, each with a loan period of 3 days, maximum of 6 bone sets at a time. Simply ask for them at the Checkout Desk.
Human skeleton with flexible spine, muscle insertions, and ligaments
A detailed adult male skeleton model, made of a high-quality PVC plastic. Great to use in combination with the library's bone sets. Ask for it at the Check Out Desk. Can be signed out and used in-library only.

Free online version of the well-know medical textbook, geared to health professionals. Covers etiology, pathophysiology and treatment of diseases and conditions.

Drug and therapeutic information for health care professionals, from the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA). Includes drug monographs, treatment options for more than 250 common medical conditions, Health Canada advisories, and more.
