CINAHL Subject headings can "exploded" to search for broad topics, such as any type of orthopedic surgery. Follow these steps.
- Enter a search term and select "Suggest Subject terms"
- On the results screen, the first result will be Orthopedic Surgery. Click on that link.
- You will now see a "Tree" of CINAHL Subject Headings, with many narrower SH's listed. Tick the box to the left of Orthopedic Surgery to select it.
- Tick the box to the right of Orthopedic Surgery to "Explode" it. That will add all the narrower SH's to your search.
- Click on the Search Database button in the upper right-hand side of the screen to begin your article search.
