Langara Library Goes Late Fee Free!

by Dan Slessor on August 30th, 2024 in Using the Library | 0 Comments

The Library is pleased to announce that it is now Late Fee Free. With the exception of some items in our collection, students will no longer accrue late fees on overdue items. Late fees pose a significant barrier to Library access for many students. Removing late fees will provide a more accessible and equitable post-secondary experience for Langara students.

For more information about how the borrowing process will change for students, as well as important exceptions to this new initiative, please visit the Library’s Renewals, Holds, and Replacement Charges page.

Many links have been updated on the library website and in our library catalogue, but more work will continue over the coming days. If you're having urgent issues accessing anything, please contact libref@langara.ca Thank you so much for your continued patience! We will update here when the transition is complete.

Library Service Interruption on August 19

by Emma Lawson on August 15th, 2024 in Using the Library | 0 Comments

There will be a service interruption on August 19 as we transition from EZproxy to OpenAthens, our new authentication system for library e-resource access. From approximately 6 AM, we will be updating links in our library catalogue, assignment and subject guides, Talis Reading Lists, and databases. Saved bookmarks to library content may also be affected.

We appreciate your patience during this transition and will aim to complete the transition as quickly as possible.

Attention faculty and instructors: If you share online library resources through bookmarked links, Brightspace, Reading Lists, syllabi, or other course materials, please note that the authentication process is changing before the Fall 2024 semester. The Library is transitioning from EZproxy to OpenAthens, a more secure and user-friendly authentication system. Take a few minutes to learn about this change and the steps you need to take to ensure your resource links are updated and ready for students in September.

Read more about this transition at the Library Central iWeb site.
