Critical Analysis Paper (CAP)

For this assignment, you will write an 800-1,000 word critical analysis of an environmental issue. You will write the paper in class on Aug 1, but you will do the research and other preparation in advance, outside of class.

This guide will help you complete the research required for your Annotated Bibliography Assignment and guide your analysis of your chosen topic.

To choose your topic, you will:

• Select a country from the list provided to you in the assignment description. You must tell your instructor which country you have chosen.
• Narrow your focus to a specific environmental issue or event that was current or ongoing in 2015 or later.

You will then use course themes and concepts from your textbook to contribute to your critical analysis of the topic.

A note on the Geographical Themes & Concepts

For this essay, you are to use two of the geographical concepts that you have discussed in class to examine your topic. In many cases, adding the concept as a search term will NOT help you find better articles. Instead, you should be looking for the main concepts, ideas, or events around your topic and applying those geographical concepts to your interpretation of the sources.
