KINS 2215: Biomechanics

A guide to finding peer-reviewed biomechanics research articles.

Search Strategies

Search smarter, not harder

You'll probably need to do several searches with different keyword combinations before you find the right article. Here are some tips for searching in Library databases:

  1. Save time by using * to search for variations on a word
Example: athlet* finds athlete, athletes, athletic, athletics, athleticism, etc.

  2.  Use quotation marks to keep separate words together as one concept
Example: search for the concept of "golf swings" rather than the words "golf" and "swings" separately

  3. Connect your keywords and concepts using AND and OR.
Example: concussions AND (rehabilitation OR recovery)

Narrowing Search Results

Use database filters to narrow your search to peer reviewed/research articles. Each database looks a little different, but most allow you to narrow by date, subject, article type, and more.
