Student Library Orientation

Study Spaces

The library has many different spaces available for group and individual study.

Levels 1 & 2 are appropriate for group work (including quiet talking), while Level 3 and the second floor silent study room are available if you prefer to work with zero talking.

There are 8 bookable Study Rooms available for group meetings or individual use. There are also 4 Smart Tables on the main floor where students can plus in a personal computer to share on a large screen, and two private Theatre/Presentation rooms with large screens ideal for screening media or practicing presentations. To use these spaces you can book online for up to two hours at a time.

Computers and Printers

There are computers on the main floor of the library as well as in labs L108 and L109 that students are free to use on a first-come, first served basis. There are printers for student use on the main floor, in L109 and just outside of L109, but please note you need to send a print job from a library computer. There are some computers designated for quick printing nearby. Find out how to print here or ask a library staff member for help!

Borrowing books, textbooks, and more

The library has many books and media available to borrow (your student card is your library card!). You can search what's available on the library website. You also have access to many different e-books, journal articles, streaming videos, and more. If you're not sure where to start, ask a library staff member for help!

Some courses have a textbook available to borrow from the library, usually for a three-hour or one-day borrowing period, in order to allow many students to have access. Not all courses have a textbook at the library, but you can check by searching under Course Readings with the course name (eg. ENGL1098) or instructor last name and first initial (Friesen, S).
