Search Term Example in PsycINFO

PsycINFO has many filters that will allow you to hone your search and find the resources most useful to your research project.

Some filters that will help you with this assignment include:

  • Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals: Most of the items in the PsycINFO database come from peer-reviewed journals, but it's always useful to tick this option off to ensure your study is coming from an academic journal.
  • Methodology: These filters allow you to limit results to particular types of articles. For instance, if you are looking for experiments, you can filter the methodology to Empirical Studies.
  • Date: If you are looking for the most up-to-date resources, you can set a publication date range that will just show articles published during that time.
  • Age: Are you only looking at a particular age group for this assignment? If so, you can limit the results to just studies related to your defined age group.
  • Gender: If you are looking at studies involving either female or male subjects you can set your filter to exclude/include a single gender.
