#Vancity In-Class Activity
This section will lead us through a group activity coming up with keywords and researchable aspects of your Urban Landscape.
- Please put yourself into groups of 3-4 students. Designate one student who will share out the results. Do this first! That way, someone isn't on the spot when we come back.
- Choose an image to analyze from the printed images I have brought out here.
- If you were a social media influencer or researcher and you were sharing this picture, what kinds of things would you include in the caption? Produce 10-12 hashtags that you might attach to the picture. Try to go a littler deeper than just describing what is on the picture and ask yourself questions like you would for your Urban Landscape.
- How has this place come to be and how have humans altered it?
- What cultural, economic, or environmental forces are at play in this picture?
- What are the values, tastes, or aspirations of people associated with it?
- You will have 10 minutes to think about your hashtags.
- Pick your 3 favourite hashtags - the ones that you think will translate well into research topics.
