Using Sources With Integrity - New Tutorial Design

Purpose

This new tutorial, working title "Using Souces with Integrity," will replace the existing tutorial "Avoiding Plagiarism."

While "Avoiding Plagiarism" has been well utilized in the past 10 years, the changing nature of student needs, the technological landscape, and academic integrity best practices means that the content is beginning to show its age.

As a result, a new online tutorial that better addresses the current landscape and looks toward the future is needed. In this new tutorial, we hope to expand the current content to include lessons around:

  • the culture around post-secondary research;
  • helping students to recognize their place in scholarly discourse;
  • discussion of plagiarism and its impact on both individual students and the larger community;
  • citation as an integral part of scholarly communication;
  • and contemporary and future challenges to scholarly discourse (for example, artificial intelligence).
