Reference books provide quick access to introductory information on your topic. For this reason, reference books are helpful in the early stages of your research. Encyclopedias and dictionaries are examples of reference books.
Print reference books are located in the Reference Collection on the first floor of the library. Books in the Reference Collection must be used in the library and cannot be borrowed. However, you are welcome to take notes or scan/photocopy the pages you need.

The Greenwood Encyclopedia of Daily Life
Books are often very long. Use the index at the back of the book to determine which pages include information on your topic.
The index is a long list of all the topics discussed in a book, organized alphabetically from A-Z. See the example attached below.
