General Information

Library Hours

The full library space is open to the public and regular borrowing practices have resumed. You are now able to browse the library collection and borrow print materials and DVDs.

Spring Semester Hours, starting January 10, 2022

Monday-Thursday: 8 am - 9 pm

Friday: 8 am - 6 pm

Saturday/Sunday: 11 am - 6 pm

Holiday closures and latest hours updates

Mask Mandate

As of Friday, March 11, 2022, the public health order requiring face coverings in low-risk indoor public spaces has been repealed. Face coverings are now optional in all indoor public settings, including classrooms, recreation facilities, and common areas on Langara campuses. 

Food Policy

As of March 11, 2022, the Library's pre-pandemic food policy has been reinstated. Drinks with lids are allowed in the Library. Food is once again allowed in the Library, with the exception of hot food or food with strong odours (e.g., pizza, hamburgers, etc.).

Accessing Library Materials

  • On campus pick up of print books and DVDs 

The Library is once again open to the public and regular borrowing practices have resumed. For library hours or closures visit the Library Hours page.

  • Request a digital scan of a book chapter or a journal article
    Under Canadian Copyright an entire book CANNOT be digitized. Requests for more than one chapter, one article, or 10% of an item will be automatically cancelled. Requests for different chapters within the same item sent as multiple requests will also be cancelled. The scanned document will be emailed to you. Please complete the online scan request form.
As of August 23, 2021, the Library is once again open to the public and regular borrowing practices have resumed. For library hours or closures visit the Library Hours page. Note that textbooks are usually kept in the Library's Reserve section, which have shorter loan periods that are still in effect.
A Langara student returns a book using the Library's outdoor book drop.When the library is closed: return materials to the outside drop box. Go to southwest entrance of the L building, on the left side of the entry doors is a little metal door to drop items into.
When the library is open: return materials to the Check Out Desk (next to the IT desk) on the first floor.
Regular late fees are in effect for physical items checked out after May 4, 2020. Payment of late fees must be done in-person at the Library, by debit or cash. If you have questions about late fees, please contact Borrower Services by email or by phone 604-323-5462.
Library databases, e-book collections, and streaming video collections can be accessed remotely using your Screen capture of the filters found on the Library's Quick Topic Search. The "eBooks Only" filter is highlighted.Langara e-mail and password.
Recently, the Library added a new filter to its Quick Topic Search (the search bar on the Library home page) to make finding e-books easier. After searching, you can select “eBooks Only” from the list of filters on the results page.

Interlibrary Loan service has resumed pre-COVID operations. In addition to digital items (e.g., journal articles and book chapters), physical item requests are once again being processed.
